John McCormack: The Voice That Calls Across the Years
Most of us have heard of John McCormack, the great Irish tenor. Even though few of us have ever heard McCormack singing, we were never shy about arguing that McCormack was a greater singer that Enrico Caruso! Our October meeting will fill the gaps in our knowledge and appreciation of John McCormack.
Our speaker is Mike Fitzpatrick. He will use an engaging presentation and re-mastered recordings of John McCormack to validate his thesis that John McCormack was more than a singer of Irish songs and ballads; he was one of the greatest singers of the 20th century.
Mike has had an abiding interest in John McCormack for over forty years, which accounts for his passion to bring John McCormack's greatness to organizations like ours. Mike is currently president of the Nassau County Civil War Roundtable.
Lovers of music and Irish culture will fill our seats!
Join us on Wednesday, October 9th at the Garden City Public Library. The meeting begins at 7:30pm.
